  How to buy Your First Christmas Tree

  today's topic on freeminds mind be of interest to those of you who are buying your first trees.

  many of you are celebrating the holidays for the first time.

  some of you will be decorating your homes for the first time which means buying and decorating your first christmas.

  darth- My first post JW tree was a small white one that had silver balls, pink lights, silver and pink ribbon for garland and a pink snowman topper.

  It was gorgeous! Since my husband is still an active Witness, we waited until he went to spend a few days with his parents to put it up and took it down before he got home. It was so worth it, the next year we went with a larger green tree and put it up earlier... husband was NOT happy but the tree stayed.

  He did blow us in to the Elders, but they haven't done anything because we hadn't been to meetings in a couple years and we let them know how much their lack of love affected us. One actually had tears in his eyes talking to us about our feelings about our treatment by the congregation. I hope he wakes up.

  I will try and post a picture of the tree if I can find it.

  So when do we get our list of names? Today?

  I am so ready for this. I've given my daughters cards before but never had anyone else to exchange them with.

  Jehovah’s Witness Spouses

  i seriously doubt there's anyone with a spouse that's a jehovah's witness here.

  but if so, how do you absorb all the hateful rhetoric disseminated here without spitting it back in your spouses face?.

  My husband is a JW. There are times we have great difficulty staying together, but there are longer times we are okay. Not happy with each other's choices, but okay.

  There are many more hateful words coming from my husband and his JW family than ever have appeared here on this forum. My daughters and I have been vilified in so many ways... it would take too long to write it all out and my husband and I are at peace right now, but his family is something else altogether. Hateful and vindictive don't even scratch the surface of their slanderous behavior.

  First Christmas

  this year, i have decided that i am going to celebrate the christmas season in my own way.

  even as a witness growing up, the two-month period of november and december had always been my favorite time of year.

  something about all the pretty lights and decorations and the general spirit of goodwill always appealed to me.. i went shopping for a christmas tree the other day, but that's not what this post is about.

  My daughter and I buy a box or two of inexpensive Christmas cards and write thank you notes to people who put up extra pretty decorations on their houses. It's great fun to check out all the beautiful decorations and decide who is cardworthy. And it's definitely more fun to leave thank you cards than go in field service.
